Pastoral Visiting Team

Hello, my name is Audrey Griffiths and I am the pastoral worker for the Benefice of Norley, Crowton and Kingsley.  I work within Ministry Team which comprises clergy and lay people and is led by Revd Hillary Merrington.

Each church in the Benefice has a unique way of ensuring that people are made to feel welcome and there are many examples of informal visiting taking place as well as visits made by the clergy.  My role is to support and assist the clergy in the care of the parishioners.

2020 has been a challenging year that has seen our churches close and visiting severely curtailed.  The informal structure of keeping in contact with each other has hopefully ensured that our church members have not been missed out. I know that people have been in touch by email, zoom and telephone. For instance the Mothers' Union Enroling Member has maintained an email link with the MU members on a daily basis throughout the year and this is continuing.
We have not been able to visit the nursing homes (Newton Hall and Mount Pleasant) but we have kept in touch and we even arranged for dvds of the Remembrance Service and the Christmas services to be safely delivered to them. Hopefully they enjoyed sharing thoses services with us. I am planning to deliver monthly service dvds. We keep the residents and staff in our prayers.

We are fortunate to have links with the hospital chaplaincies in the vicinity and if we are aware of anyone being admitted to a hospital we do contact the chaplaincy team.

In addition we have an outreach to the open prison  at Thorn Cross, Appleton Thorn.  However Covid 19 has meant that the prison is closed to volunteers.  However we continue to be linked in prayer and supporting the Prison Fellowship initiatives, such as Angel Tree, that ensures that the children of prisoners have presents at Christmas.

We have not been able to do any outreach events for the seniors and sadly we had to cancel the Meet and Eat for the time being. But we hope that we will be able to return to both these activities in the near future.

I am a qualified listener and offer a listening ear to anyone who is worried, lonely or just needs to talk.

Please contact Hilary or me if you would like to help or if we can help you or you know of anyone who you think would like to be contacted.
Stay Safe, we keep you in our prayers.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
