The Mothers' Union is an internation organisation which has at its heart a commitment to offer Christian Care for Families.
Here in this Benefice, as throughout the UK and around the world, we look at turning faith into action. We do this, for example, by supporting the Summer of Hope Appeal which is an organaisation which provides support for people both at home and abroad, who are refugees, survivors of abuse or living in poverty. Another charity which we as Mothers' Union members support is 'AFIA - Away From It All Holidays' which provides a much needed break for struggling families around the UK.
If any reader knows a familiy who may benefit from AFIA please do contact us for more information, this organistion supports local families a fact which is often overlooked. In recent years some local families have had the opportunity to enjoy and benefit this scheme so please do not think it is 'not for us' and remember also you may know somebody who would benefit so please contact us .
We also are always happy to respond to appeals for knitted items such as blankets, jumpers, hats and scarves when ever the call is made. We recently collected stationery items to fill bags so marginalised and poor children in Eastern Europe can go to school and baby care items for 'Kidsbank,' a Chester based charity which provides baby care items for struggling families in Chester and Deeside.
These are just a few of the activities we become involved in, yet at the same time, we ensure, as a group, we have a range of social activities and outings planned each year to keep us active and to keep our fellowship strong.
We feel as though we have planned an interesting programme for 2026 and want to remind all readers that anyone is welcome to attend any of our planned talks or the visits that we make. We generally refer to ourselves as MU members and so please look out for this abbreviation which will keep you updated with forthcoming events. Also I would like to take this opportunity to inform / remind everyone that the MU has for many years enrolled men and single women into their branches and we certainly appreciate this all inclusive approach. Please feel free to join us, we meet the first Tuesday of every month at the NCK centre at 2pm.
