The Mothers' Union is an internation organisation which has at its heart a commitment to offer Christian Care for Families.
Here in this Benefice, as throughout the UK and around the world, we look at turning faith into action. We do this, for example, by supporting the Big Wheels Appeal which is an organaisation which provides support for people both at home and abroad, who are refugees, survivors of abuse or living in poverty. Annually we support the Samaritan's Purse in their Operation Christmas Child Appeal to help provide a spark of light to the many thousands of children living in desperate situations. Looking closer to home we have made 'fiddle pinnies' and given them to local care homes for use by residents with Dementia, and also made collections for a local 'Womans Aid Refuge' were women often arrive at the refuge with nothing more than a single bag. These are just a few of the activities we get up to, yet at the same time, ensuring as a group we have a range of social outings planned each year to keep us active, in addition to our monthly 'open house' meetings where we meet for a chat and coffee.
.
We feel as though we have planned an interesting programme for the year and want to remind all readers that anyone is welcome to attend any of our planned talks or the visits that we make. We generally refer to ourselves as MU members and so please look out for this abbreviation which will keep you updated with forthcoming events. Also I would like to take this opportunity to inform / remind everyone that the MU has for many years enrolled men and single women into their groups and we certainly appreciate this all inclusive approach. Please feel free to join us, we meet the first Tuesday of every month, in the winter months during afternoons and in the summer in the evenings - details are below.
